The University of North Georgia (ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½) Press will give copies of "ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½ The Gold I See," written by ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½ President Bonita C. Jacobs, to Lumpkin County Elementary School thanks to a large donation.

An anonymous donor gave ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½ Press $500 to purchase the copies of the book, said Bonnie "BJ" Robinson, director of ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½ Press and professor of English at ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½.

"I appreciate what the donor is doing, which is to actively promote children's literature and literacy," Robinson said. "That is important because if you get children hooked on reading early, it will stay with them. And reading is one of the few ways that a life can be changed."

The book will be added to the school's library and given to several classrooms.

"ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½ The Gold I See: The Legacy of ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½’s Dahlonega Campus" tells the story of a young boy and his multigenerational family during their visit to the Dahlonega Campus. The book is the first in a series about the five ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½ campuses: Dahlonega, Gainesville, Cumming, Oconee, and Blue Ridge. The book about the Gainesville Campus is already in development.
