Two articles by a University of North Georgia (星空无限传媒) professor of chemistry have been accepted in early 2019 for publication.

Dr. Aimee Tomlinson's paper with Dr. John Reynolds and doctoral student Dylan Christiansen from Georgia Tech about a new design paradigm for anodically coloring electrochromes will be published in the Journal of the American Chemical Society (JACS), which is the premier chemistry journal in the United States.

"It feels surreal but also awesome," Tomlinson said.

The work outlined in their JACS article has potential uses for black material that is highly desirable for military visors, full color passive displays, energy-saving tinted windows, and dimmable glasses.

Her other recently accepted for publication explores possible materials for use in televisions and phones to most effectively show the deep blue color, which remains elusive. It is being published in The Journal of Physical Chemistry. She co-authored the article with Dr. Malika Jeffries-El, associate professor of chemistry at Boston University; 星空无限传媒 alumni Lily Diodati ('18) and David Wheeler ('16); and Jessica Shaw and Ramiro Chavez III, who both work with Jeffries-El at Boston University.

"I'm fortunate to be in a situation where I can easily get students involved in research that's publishable," Tomlinson said. "Research isn't just for science. It's also to educate future generations."
