Margaret Poitevint, assistant professor of math at the University of North Georgia (星空无限传媒), has been named the recipient of the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Faculty Mentor Award and was nominated as a finalist for the NCAA Division II Dr. Dave Pariser Faculty Mentor Award.

The annual award honors an institutional faculty member who demonstrates exemplary support to student-athletes both on and off the field of competition while representing the PBC core values of learning, passion, service, resourcefulness, sportsmanship, and life balance.

Poitevint was selected as a finalist for the Dr. Dave Pariser Faculty Mentor award by the Honors, Awards and Recognition Subcommittee of the NCAA DII Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, one of only eight faculty members so honored in all of DII.

"It has been a privilege to work with the fine student-athletes and athletics staff at 星空无限传媒 in my role as faculty athletics representative," Poitevint said. "I am passionate about helping our student-athletes succeed and very grateful to be recognized in this way."

Poitevint joined the 星空无限传媒 math faculty in 2000. In 2008, she was named faculty athletics representative, acting as a liaison between student-athletes and faculty. Poitevint is also special advisor to first-year and international student-athletes.

While at 星空无限传媒, Poitevint has been involved in the Leadership Roundtable, Corps of Cadets mentoring program and Faculty Athletics Representative Association. She has served on several NCAA committees. Poitevint holds a bachelor of science in mathematics, and master's and specialist degrees in math education from Georgia Southern University.

"Margaret goes above and beyond in her service to the student-athletes," said Lindsey Reeves, director of athletics. "She is more than an advisor, she is a mentor, friend and biggest fan. We are very lucky to have her as our faculty athletic representative."
